Lucas Law First Aid Course
The Lucas Law was created in the city of Campinas, in the interior of São Paulo, after the incident with the boy Lucas Begalli Zamora de Souza. On September 27, 2017, during an excursion, Lucas, who was only 10 years old, died after choking on a piece of sausage after eating a hot dog offered by the school. The incident that generated popular commotion sparked discussions about the safety of children and adolescents during the period they are in educational establishments.
Moved by the city council e by the mother of the boy Lucas, a law from the municipality of Campinas gained national repercussions and “made a school”. On July 27, 2018, the Law was passed16,802 (bill No. 91, of 2018, by deputy Carlos Cezar) by the governor of the State of São Paulo, Marcio França. And, on October 4, 2018, the Federal LawNo. 13,722 by the then President of the Republic, Michel Temer.
Approved byfederal Senate, the Lucas Law project determines training in first aid for education professionals:
“Makes training in basic first aid notions mandatory for teachers and employees of public and private educational establishments of basic education and children's recreation establishments.”
Art. 8º This Law enters into force after 180 (one hundred and eighty) days have elapsed from its official publication. April 2019).
